How much damage has occured as a result of the March 2012 Mexico Earthquake?
First reports of damage are slight, but officials are awaiting more information.
An earthquake has been reported in Mexico on March 20, 2012 in the southern state of Oaxaca. Currently, buildings are being evacuated although there are not many reports of damage despite the 7.6 magnitude of the quake reported by the USGS. The quake was felt as far north as Mexico city and Acapulco, where people evacuated buildings due to the strength of the tremor in those areas. The president of Mexico has said that water and other services are still functioning in the capital, with no widespread damage reported at that location.
